Mr. Walter Busangavanye is a highly accomplished finance executive with over 20 years of leadership experience in strategic financial management, corporate finance, accounting, and auditing. His extensive expertise spans high-value, complex industries, including insurance, asset management, mining, and civil engineering. Throughout his career, he has established a proven track record of leading finance and administrative teams, driving financial performance, and aligning fiscal strategy with overarching organizational objectives.

Professional Experience

Prior to his current role, Mr. Busangavanye served as the Head of Finance at Jena Gold Mines, a subsidiary of the Zimbabwe Mining Development Corporation (ZMDC). In this capacity, he held full responsibility for the company’s financial strategy and operations. His duties included overseeing budgeting, financial planning, and reporting, as well as delivering critical analyses of cash flow, income, and expenses to guide executive decision-making. Furthermore, he established robust financial controls and processes to ensure accuracy, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency, while successfully leading initiatives to optimize cash resources and minimize risk.

Audit and Risk Expertise

Backed by a strong foundation in internal audit and risk management, Mr. Busangavanye has held several senior positions, including Internal Audit Manager, across prominent organizations such as the Fossil Group, the Zimbabwe Mining Development Corporation (ZMDC), SMM Holdings, and the Zimnat Insurance Group. In these roles, he conducted comprehensive project audits, assessed operational effectiveness, and ensured strict compliance with statutory laws and regulations—effectively translating risk insights into stronger financial controls and enhanced organizational performance.
